It was a pleasure to call Senator Obama's office because I already knew he supported PC expansion and opposed Perkins elimination -- I had visited him in his Capitol Hill office only two weeks prior. I had also visited Senator Durbin's office but I only met with his staff as was my conversation conducted today--they were not aware of Senator's Durbin's position on the PC Budget or on Perkins Loan legislation. I found the identical situation with Representative Jerry Costello's office--I did not meet with him personally nor was his position known to his staff. All staff were quite warm in their reception of information, with one senator's staff commenting on their use of Perkins Loans and about a family member who was a PC volunteer!
