JACKSONVILLE - International banking official Gretchen Handwerger, who also is a former director of the Peace Corps, is scheduled for two appearances at Illinois College.
Handwerger, serving as I.C.'s Woodrow Wilson visiting scholar, will talk about her Peace Corps work at 10 a.m. Monday in Sibert Theatre. She will discuss the World Bank at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, in the Crispin Lecture Hall.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Handwerger joined the Peace Corps in 1961 and was named its director of management in 1975. She served as acting director from 1977-79. Since then, she has worked for the World Bank, including as a liaison to the United Nations, and as a senior loan officer for India and Bangladesh.
