The "glory days" -- 1965 - 1967, when we served not to infuse values, but to help.

My wife Marilyn and I served in Chisimaio, Somalia, from 1965 - 1967. Don't know if there's much left of the city, or the country, for that matter. If there are any Somali III people out there we would love to hear from you.

Geriatric Peace Corp: Our website is exvalhalla.net. I am co-founder and President of this environmental project which we have been financing from our pocket. My husband and I Have been working here for more than 25 years. We need a special kind of volunteers: They must be persons who have a pension or economic way of sustaining themselves, so that they can live in the famous town of Antigua, Guatemala, Central America, and come everyday to the farm (10 min. from Antigua).Help us to do whatever is necessary at the farm, like tour guide around the farm (8 acres), helping in the garden restaurant, gardening, pruning trees, helping in the kitchen, helping serve breakfasts which consist of macadamia nut pancakes with macadamia honey, flour and mac. butter). Give free samples of our macadamioa nuts, samples of macadamia chocolates and a refreshment to the tourists and also we have natural cosmetics based on macadamia oil, so we give a free facial to the visitors. OUr place is rustic but charming.

OUr mission is mainly to plant macadamia nut trees globally to prevent slash and burn, (see website for more info on our goals and to know why we need to plant these special trees)

Volunteers, ( it would be better if it is a couple of husband and wife) would spend the whole day in a small beautiful farm, atending people, we receive 30-40 thousand visitors a year. They would learn spanish, our 15 workers so not speak English but the family does. Our son speaks German, he lived in Hamburg for 3 years.

We need people who have a passion for the environment, people who really like to be in a place in the country talking to visitors about the environment problems and how to solve them.
People who have done almost everything in life and now are ready to put something back. People who like to keep themselves informed on the environmental problems the planet is suffering and want to help prevent them and talk to people on how each one of us can put their grain of sand on it. People who like people and who like to learn from people. People who like to meet people from all over the world. We love people from all nationalities.

If someone likes this kind of life, they would be extremely happy here. We can provide meals and an ambiance with lots of laughs and love.

Please contact us for any information, no compromise. exvalhalla@gmail.com my name is Emilia (spanish) or Emily (English)
