I am a returned volunteer from the Philippines (Batch 260) and I deplore the idea of the Peace Corps serving as a tool in the military obligation of a young man or woman. I served in the Marine Corps in 1958 as a reservist and completed my reserve obligations. It was my goal at the time and my motivations were strictly military. In 2002 I joined the Peace Corps and my goals were strictly service in whatever country the Peace corps sent me. The two just do not mix. Do one or do the other, don't allow one to pollute the other.
