I was an enlisted airman the Air Force Reserve when I joined the Peace Corps in 1962. This presented no problem with AFRes. My commanders said, in effect, that either way, I would be in service to my country. The Peace Corps agreed.

I left the Peace Corps after my tour and I was honorably discharged from AFRes in 1966.

This should not be construed as an endorsement of Bush's plan to militarize the Peace Corps. I lived in a different time before the military was on the verge of depletion because of Bush's phony Iraq war.

His plan stinks and should be fought vigorously by all!
