He earned his baccalaureate degree at Fordham University and doctoral degree at George Washington University. While studying for his doctorate in Washington, D.C. in 1962, Rooney helped train the first Peace Corp volunteers under the direction of Robert Sargent Shriver.

Dr. Charles Rooney Jr. has been at Felician College for almost 33 years, starting as an associate professor of English. Now serving as Executive Vice President, Rooney utilizes his writing, technical and financial skills to tackle college-wide administrative projects such as the assessment by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, bond issues, information technology, state and federal regulations and grant writing. He earned his baccalaureate degree at Fordham University and doctoral degree at George Washington University. While studying for his doctorate in Washington, D.C. in 1962, Rooney helped train the first Peace Corp volunteers under the direction of Robert Sargent Shriver.
