Obama is talking about helping Peace Corps volunteers to pay for their college, and about expanding the Peace Corps, and it is a great idea.
One issue where Peace Corps volunteers can help is on the issue of clean, safe drinking water. There are many parts of the planet where people do not have clean, safe water to drink. When I was involved in doing charity work with the Burbank YMCA I helped to maintain an entire water system at a summer camp in the mountains, so I learned a lot about how to build and maintain a water system. I wanted to volunteer with the Peace Corps and go to South America or someplace and put in water systems for villages and stuff so they have clean, safe water to drink, etc. But, when I tried to join the Peace Corps they told me to go back to school and get my Masters Degree and then join, they did not even take note of my work experience and stuff, they said they wanted people with a higher education only at that time. So, I could not join the Peace Corps at that time.
Well, today they are talking about expanding the Peace Corps, and that is good, and hopefully they allow more people to join, and hopefully they look more at how people can contribute, along with those whom have a higher education.
All the best,
