Durante su visita al país, el Sr. Williams se reunirá con el Vicepresidente de la República, Dr. Rafael Alburquerque, y con funcionarios de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos. También visitará a un voluntario en su comunidad para conocer su proyecto, y sostendrá reuniones con el personal y Voluntarios del Cuerpo de Paz en la Republica Dominicana.

El Director de Cuerpo de Paz Aaron Williams visitará la República Dominicana junto a su equipo de trabajo del 31de Agosto al 2 de Septiembre del 2009. El Sr. Williams fue Voluntario del Cuerpo de Paz entre 1967 y 1970, inicialmente en un programa de entrenamiento para maestros rurales en Monte Plata, República Dominicana, y extendió su servicio por un tercer año para trabajar como profesor de métodos de enseñanza en la Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, en Santiago. Luego de completar su servicio, trabajó para el Cuerpo de Paz como coordinador de reclutamiento de minorías y oficial de evaluación de proyectos en su ciudad natal de Chicago (1970-1971).

El Sr. Williams fue juramentado como el decimoctavo Director del Cuerpo de Paz el 24 de agosto del 2009. Nominado por el Presidente Barack Obama y confirmado por el Senado de los Estados Unidos el pasado ocho de agosto, el Sr. Williams es el cuarto Director en la historia del Cuerpo de Paz que ha servido como voluntario de la agencia.

Durante su visita al país, el Sr. Williams se reunirá con el Vicepresidente de la República, Dr. Rafael Alburquerque, y con funcionarios de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos. También visitará a un voluntario en su comunidad para conocer su proyecto, y sostendrá reuniones con el personal y Voluntarios del Cuerpo de Paz en la Republica Dominicana.

El Sr. Williams ha hecho carrera en el desarrollo e implementación de programas de asistencia a nivel mundial. ue Gerente Administrativo en la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID por sus siglas en inglés), donde alcanzó el rango de Ministro de Carrera en el Servicio Exterior de los Estados Unidos. También trabajó como vicepresidente ejecutivo de la Fundación Juventud Internacional. Como Director de la Misión de la USAID en Sudáfrica, el Sr. Williams dirigió un programa de asistencia internacional de un billón de dólares durante el periodo presidencial de Nelson Mandela.

Además tiene una vasta experiencia en el diseño y gestión de programas de asistencia en América Latina, África, Asia y el Medio Oriente. Ha recibido distinciones por su exitosa labor con el Servicio Exterior de los Estados Unidos.

Es miembro del Consejo sobre Relaciones Exteriores, y fue miembro del Comité de Asesores de la USAID sobre Asistencia Internacional Voluntaria. Trabajó en el equipo de transición Obama-Biden, la junta de asesores del Programa de Becarios Ron Brown, la junta de directores de CARE, y las juntas del Instituto para Comunidades Sostenibles, la Fundación Panamericana para el Desarrollo y la Asociación Nacional del Cuerpo de Paz.
