O. C. FINANCIAL CRISIS

Two security gates now greet visitors as they get
off the elevator to visit the Board of Supervisors on the fifth floor of the Orange
County Hall of Administration.
The $3,492 security system requires a receptionist to buzz visitors in.
Board Chairman Gaddi Vasquez said the system will add "flow control" because
the reception area will have one staff member instead of three after budget cuts.
"They do this in the private sector, too," Vasquez said. "You can't just walk past
the reception area and mosey around."
