US Peace Corps workers leave Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan

On 1 October Peace Corps recalled more than 300 of its volunteers and workers from Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan for security reasons because of the planned US military action in Afghanistan.
Peace Corps began to sent its volunteers to the Central Asian countries in 1993 to teach local people English and to assist in the sphere of healthcare and environmental protection. Peace Corps will send its workers to other countries where it has programmes, and will later return to Central Asia.
