Following is an email from the NPCA advocacy list urging members to update their records for the Emergency Response Network

Dear Friends,

This message is a reminder about updating your ERN (Emergency Response Network) record every three months or any time there is a change in your information or availability. As a result of the tragic events of September 11, and the resulting humanitarian crisis emerging in Afghanistan and its border countries, we have received a number of inquiries from organizations around the world that are urgently seeking experienced personnel to take up positions in disaster relief and refugee assistance. Organizations search for and contact volunteers who have recently updated information, since that is perceived to be your statement of current availability and continued interest.

We urge you to register and/or update your ERN information today!

1. Visit our web page at http://www.rpcv.org .

2. Click on "Members Only"

3. Type in your NPCA password. (Find it in the most recent issue of 3/1/61.)

4. Click "Register/Update with the Emergency Response Network."

If you encounter any difficulties or have forgotten your personal ERN password, please contact ern@rpcv.org. We will respond to you as soon as we can.

Please note that the Emergency Response Network is a free benefit of your NPCA membership. Here is a quick introduction to ERN for those of you who haven't signed up: The ERN system is a 24-hour, global access on-line database of RPCVs ready to answer the call of service during times of international crisis and humanitarian need. The goal of ERN is to quickly and effectively connect relief and development agencies worldwide with highly skilled Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs). The ERN allows you to enter your contact information, availability, and skills into a secure database. Your information is then made available to subscriber organizations, such as the Peace Corps Crisis Corps, who are seeking highly qualified volunteers for short- and long-term assignments. ERN members have volunteered for: the International Rescue Committee, USAID, American Red Cross, ACDI/VOCA, Peace Corps' Crisis Corps, American Refugee Committee, and others. Do you want to serve again around the world? Follow the directions above to register.
