Following is the NPCA Funding Appeal from the Advocacy listserv:

LISTSERVE DONATION APPEAL

Dear Advocacy Listserve Member,

Each year we appeal to members of the Listserve for the financial support required to operate and enhance the entire NPCA Advocacy Program, including this Listserve.
Although the listserve is provided free of charge, there are significant overhead costs in setting it up, operating it, and enhancing its content. Without your help, NPCA could not expand its advocacy efforts as it is now doing!

You may contribute online via https://secure.schoolyard.com/rpcv/howtojoin.cfm,
fax your information to NPCA at 202-293-7554, or you may mail your check to NPCA, 1900 L Street NW Suite 205, Washington DC 20036. When you transmit your donation, please make it clear that it is for ADVOCACY (if online, "for the Advocacy Program" in the comments field). NPCA members may also have received a mail appeal within the last few days. If you have already responded with your donation, we thank you!

Our direct advocacy addresses numerous emerging issues on a timely basis, including our three priorities for the coming year:

* increased funding for the Peace Corps
* more investment in international health, focusing on HIV-AIDS and women's health
* more investment in renewable energy sources aimed at reducing the threat of climate change and global warming

The NPCA Advocacy Program includes:

* the information technology network;
* state advocacy units;
* regional advocacy workshops;
* Advocacy Day on the Hill;
* Advocacy Day Every Day program;
* support of your efforts; and
* follow-up on your suggestions.

We hope you have noticed in recent months that the frequency and quality of listserve communications have increased and improved. We have big plans for further improving the listserve during the coming year. We welcome your involvement and support!

Finally, if you are not already a member of NPCA, please consider officially joining us in order to reap the full benefits of membership.

Thank you for your consideration. Your investment will broaden our base of support and strengthen the Peace Corps movement. All donors of $100 or more will receive the 2002 International Calendar later this Fall. 100% of your donation will support the Advocacy Program, as designated.

Dane F Smith, President (Ethiopia 63-65)
Ed Crane, Advocacy Coordinator (Dominican Republic, 66-67)
