Christopher Columbus: The Shame In The Glory 4-12

The audience plays the Spanish Royal Court as Columbus attempts to explain his goals and deeds from 1492 - 1506. Mr. Fincken makes him flesh and blood in Columbus’ own time. The audience must decide for itself whether the admiral is hero or villain.

Writing Tall Tales 5-8

Hank “sets the stage” for this workshop by telling a “whopper.” Then the class discusses the essential components of a tall tale. Using examples from other student writers, the class writes their own stories in small groups. The original works are read and critiqued based on the definition of a tall tale.

Comparative Theater 5-12

Improvisation, comedy, and dramatic theater are the four types of stage presentations explored in this workshop or residency. Hank guides students through the process of understanding the importance of always having a purpose when on stage. Each student has the opportunity to be an actor on stage.

Performer, published author, and playwright, Mr. Hank Fincken has written and produced 12 original plays and published 25 stories. He has enchanted his audiences, not only across the United States, but in South America as well.
