INTERNATIONAL HEALTH GROUP ORGANIZING TO SUPPORT NPCA ADVOCACY

March 16, 2002

The NPCA has adopted international health as one of its three major advocacy initiatives. Included are women's health, AIDS and tuberculosis.

The undersigned have decided to organize an international health group of RPCVs and the Peace Corps community, for the purpose of supporting advocacy in this area. We warmly welcome the participation of NPCA Board members, other RPCVs or Peace Corps staff in this new initiative. The results of this meeting were reported to the NPCA Board at its meeting in Tulsa on January 31-February 2.

Organizing meetings were held at the offices of John Snow Incorporated (JSI), 1616 North Fort Myer Drive, Arlington, VA on Saturday, January 26, and February 23.

Directions to the meeting can be found below.

We welcome your participation and hope you can join us in setting the future directions of the International Health Advocacy Group on Saturday, March 16 at JSI.

Signed,

Carrie Hessler-Radelet George McFadden Alan Yount

I am looking for others returned Peace Corps volunteers who returned to US with illnesses or disabilites from service. We, too, suffer injustices and have trouble maintaining medical claims with the Peace Corps and the US dept of labor. Looking for support of others to help correct problems.
