Congo needs all the help we can muster. What a beautiful country it was in the mid-70's when my husband and I were PCV's there. Hope other friends of Congo will help create a discussion about Congo now. Margaret Szumowski

I've been teaching about the Congo for several years, and the students are very sad because of the constant warfare. How can the people be surviving. Why is there no intervention from the US or another power?

Dear Ms. Zumowski,
why the U.S is not intervening in the conflict in the Congo.
The answer to your question is that the U.S corporations have been pillaging minerals in the Congo. Therefore U.S is providing arms and military training to support Rwanda and Burundi. Please check on yahoo search engine for "Coltan is what's it's all about in the Congo" for more details.
