Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota is seeking a VISTA Leader to help recruit and support 15 VISTA members throughout the state of Minnesota. The VISTA Leader will plan and facilitate teambuilding activities, assist with training events, and help to recruit future VISTA members. **One year of volunteer experience with AmeriCorps*VISTA or the Peace Corps is required.** Position located in Minneapolis, MN.
HFH-MN will seek a VISTA Leader with the following skills and qualifications:
~ Volunteer experience including at least one term of service as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member or a Peace Corps volunteer
~ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
~ Experience in a position of leadership
~ Strong problem solving skills
~ Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of personality types
~ Experience in event planning and facilitation
~ Ability to energize and motivate others
~ Excellent oral and written communication skills
~ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
~ Computer skills and high level of comfort working with email, internet and other computer applications
~ Experience with Habitat for Humanity a plus!
Position Begin: August 2004
Position End: August 2005
Living Allowance: $ 1032 /month

Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) was created in 1964, and is often referred to as the domestic Peace Corps. Members of Americorps*VISTA serve full-time and live in the communities they serve, creating programs that continue after their year of service is completed. VISTAs are combating poverty at multiple levels in all areas of the United States.
The mission of VISTA is:
1. To strengthen and supplement efforts to eliminate poverty and poverty-related problems

My partner was a VISTA attorney in Oregon in the seventies working withthe Native Americans. We are flying to Washington next month. We are trying to locate another VISTA attorney, who worked with him in Oregon.
They were very good friends in Oregon and lost each other over the past 30 years.
