I have a friend serving with the Peace Corps in Mauritania, Africa. Do you have any hints as to what he might need or want in a care package...or mostly, what will get through customs, etc.? Thanks!

magazines, gator aid (individual packets & wrapped in ziplocks), crystal light-packaged same as gatoraid, m & m's-double ziplocked, cd's or tapes-depending what he brought to play them on, pictures from home-you-friends-places around where you are from, new t-shirt, pizza flavored goldfish (in double ziplock bags), couple of new good books in paperback (ok, pack that in a ziplock, too!-to keep out moisture), small spice packets-yup in ziplocks, letters & or cards from friends/families. Always ziplocks can be reused & are very valuable. Also put "religious goods" (my mom used to put something religious in to ease her conscience) & "no value" to try to avoid customs pilfering!
