Hi there,

If you have a moment, please check out this worthwile online project.

I recently launched http://www.aurashouse.com. It's a fundraising website that aims to raise $4500 to build a safe, sturdy home for 11-year old Aura Hernandez and her family who currently live in one of the poorest slums in Guatemala City, Guatemala. So far over $2000 has been raised. There are photos and details at the site.

I have been working on the site with the top-rated US charity Children International as well as with students from William Paterson University of New Jersey (where I teach).

A brick is added to Aura's virtual house on the site with every $50 raised.
Would you be interested in possibly making a small contribution? Even a $1 donation would be a help. You can donate securely online or use the offline address at the site. It's for a great cause, would be a huge surprise to Aura's family, and would qualify as a certified good deed for the day. :-)

Or, you can also volunteer to help work on the site. Check out our October Newsletter (link is on the main page) for more details.

Thanks in advance and best wishes,

Kristen

ps. How I wish I could actually say I was in the Peace Corps. It's actually a dream of mine, and I'm hoping I can do it if not soon, then when I'm an old lady. (I'm 28 now..)
