Mi Diaro Dominicado
The following illustrations are inspired by my time in the Dominican Republic.
I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer from September, 1993 until December, 1995.
The Dominican people are wonderful, loud, exciting and beautiful .
The calligraphy is based upon some hand painted signs I saw
on a colmado [the ubiquitous corner store].
Ya, vamonos chofer!*
*This phrase, often accompanied by coño!, is yelled by people
that are tired of waiting for the guagua
[dominican bus, in which they jam more
passengers than there are seats] .
