To any peace corps volunteers, past and present:

I am interested in joining the peace corps upon college graduation (hopefully only one more year!). I am currently working on an informative speech for my public speaking course and was wondering if i could do an interview via email with someone who is, or has been a volunteer recently (past 5 years). Please email me if interested. It will only be about 8-12 questions...nothing too lengthy.

Hi! I am a volunteer for an exchange student program called Center for Cultural Interchange. I place exchange students. I have a student from Brazil to be placed in a host family around Chicago, IL. Last year a PCV family hosted a girl from Brazil and enjoyed their experience. They suggested I place a note here so other PCVs can folow suit. The students speak English, have their own pocket money, and enjoy attending an American high school. Let me know if you want more information about hosting. Please call me at 630 784-4825.

Do you have a chronic illness or disability related to your Peace
Corps service? Are you dealing with OWCP to obtain medical benefits
or disability payments? If so, the following group may be of
interest to you:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/owcp

A group of RPCVs with OWCP claims are banding together in an attempt
to get better service from OWCP, PC Medical Office, etc. Please
feel free to join us!

Hello,

I work for National Park Service in the Office of International Affairs. I work with a small program that places individuals from other countries in the National Parks called, the International Volunteer-in-Parks Program. If you know of individuals in natural resource careers,from the country where you worked in the Peace Corps, consider referring them to our program. The catch is that we have no funding and volunteers must pay their own expenses but in some cases we can provid housing. Our web site is: http://www.nps.gov/oia/topics/ivip.htm.

I just wanted to inform the Brazil Peace Corps people that my husband, John "Jack" F. Tuttlebee recently passed away on Dec. 20, 2006 in Brooklyn, NY. He was 65. We had been married only 6 years, but were very happy. We had just moved to Brooklyn in August and were looking forward to doing so many things together. Unfortunately, he fell down the subway stairs and took a serious blow to the head which ended in his passing 8 days later. I cannot hear Brazilian music without breaking down as Jack used to sing it always with such endearment. He loved Brazil. Jack always told me his years in Brazil had marked him forever.

Hello, I would like to know if the peace corps still serve in Brazil, because there's an institution in Recife that works with street kids and currently they don't have any American volunteering agency working with them. They are looking for volunteers from the U.S. Currently they work with volunteers from Spain and Germany.
if you want to look them up they're called Ruas e Pracas www.ruasepracas.org
if anyone has any info on how I could help them out with recruting volunteers or contacting a non-proft that would be interested in working with them... Please contact me =}
thanks,,
