Due to a lack of Bolivia RPCVs in the DC Metro area, volunteering to organize 40th Anniversary activities, there may not be special activities other than the March (with the Bolivian flag) as a group from Arlington to the Lincoln Memorial.

Are there objections to co-hosting a reception at or with the Bolivian Embassy and having any association with the Banzer regime?

I am not fond of Banzer, but I think it would be good to have a reception at the Bolivian embassy. I don't think that implies any support for Banzer. Besides, I understand that he has cancer and may not even be the President by then.

I just spent about 2 weeks in Bolivia and it would really be nice to see some Bolivia RPCVs in Washington.

Where are all the B-13 folks? What are you up to?

By Pat Payne (h198.55.55.139.ip.alltel.net - 139.55.55.198) on Friday, December 26, 2003 - 7:25 am: Edit Post

Hi,
I'm concerned about my son who is visiting a PC volunteer in Bolivia for the holidays. He flew into La Paz December 21, 2003 but I am not aware of his final destination and realize it might be out of phone and email contact. Due to the recent flood, I would like to be assured of their safety. Could someone give me details on the quickest way to determine which area of Bolivia volunteers are located and how to send a message that would elicit a quick response?

Thanks.

Hello,
My wife and I have recently been offered an invitation for Peace Corps service in Bolivia. Alissa's job title is agricultural extension and mine is natural resource management specialist. We have no idea what either job entails nor where in the country we may be stationed. Lots of questions and very few answers. If anyone out there can share information on these jobs, the country, the culture, and your own personal perspectives of serving in Bolivia we would greatly appreciate it. We have a couple days to decide whether to accept or decline and any information will make that decision easier. Thanks- Brett brettpruess@hotmail.com

Would love to hear from Bolivia 11 and 12 RPCVs who trained at Brandeis and were in Bolivia 1962-64, as well as others who I knew there during that time. Especially interested in hearing from Dr. Mike Gold, who served with me in Cochabamba and was best man at my wedding. Immediate e-mail is david.winkelmann@usda.gov, but plan to retire in a few months, so a more long-term email after mid-2006 would be illinijo@msn.com.

My father, Robert Suess, trained a group of volunteers as bricklayers for the bolivia project in 1966-67 at the Skill Center in Detroit. He is now 97 years old and writing his life history, and asked me to try to locate any of his trainees and find out what they are doing now. If you are one of them, or have information for him, please e-mail me at drsuess@dslextreme.com or write him at Robert Suess, 3251-O San Amadeo, Laguna Woods, Ca. 92653

Hello,

I work for National Park Service in the Office of International Affairs. I work with a small program that places individuals from other countries in the National Parks called, the International Volunteer-in-Parks Program. If you know of individuals in natural resource careers, from the country where you worked in the Peace Corps, consider referring them to our program. The catch is that we have no funding and volunteers must pay their own expenses but in some cases we can provid housing. Our web site is: http://www.nps.gov/oia/topics/ivip.htm.
