Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:

Any of the "old gang" from the "Pit" (Residencias Montreal in Bogota) or the RCD and ETV groups, or others who frequented Freddie's jazz bar in Bogota where Bill Slater and I played.

Please contact Denny Kaltreider at dennykauplinkdnet or leave a message here.

I am interested in connecting with others who were in the Colombia rural cd group that trained in Albuquerque in the summer of 1964.

The one fellow member I keep in contact with here in North Carolina is Kelly Eanes. Kelly's in wonderful spirits but has been diagnosed with inoperable prostate cancer. So maybe some old friends would like to get in contact with him.

Best wishes,

Jim O'Reilly

I was in training with the Colombia XIII ETV group in Albuquerque but was not selected to continue. None the less, I did go to Colombia in '65, stayed at "The Pit," found employment at the Centro Colombo-Americano and married a Colombian. Later I taught English at the Presidential Palace in Bogota. My wife, from Falan, Tolima, Colombia wrote a beautiful book about our travels to numerous countries, and the book has chapters about Colombia and our decision to marry in '66 after a terrorist bomb killed 6 people at the Colombo where I was teaching. I'm now retired from the Defense Language Institute and would be pleased to send a copy of my wife's beautiful book "Where Is The Music? - The multiple near-death experiences of a world traveler" to any former Colombia PCVs from that period. ... We hope to move to David, Panama this summer and plan to visit Barranquilla periodically, where my wife has family.
