Scott Campbell, Coordinator of IHRLG's DRC Empowerment Project from 1995-1996 based in Goma, re-joined the International Human Rights Law Group in 1999 when we re-opened a field office in Kinshasa.

Prior to re-joining IHRLG, he was a children's rights consultant for the Africa and Asia divisions of Human Rights Watch, for whom he led advocacy efforts on human rights issues, developed an NGO capacity-building program for the Africa division, and researched and authored HRW reports on Congo, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, Sri Lanka, and India. Mr. Campbell has also worked as Acting Head of Office for the Congo human rights field office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Legal Officer for the M?decins Sans Fronti?res Rwandan refugee camps in Goma, and the Health and Human Rights Coordinator for the Association Zairoise de D?fense des Droits de l'Homme in Kinshasa.

Mr. Campbell received the Distinguished Public Service Award from the US Department of State and the Gorman Public Health Humanitarian Award from Columbia University in 1997. From 1987-1989, he was a US Peace Corps volunteer in Mbaiki, Central African Republic. He holds a Master of International Affairs and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University and a BA from Middlebury College. He is fluent in French, Sango, English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of Lingala and Kiswahili.
