Dear Mr. Batcha,

Hello and greetings from Quito, Ecuador. On behalf of myself and Ana Maria Castro, Program Manager of the Youth/Family at Risk Program, I would like to thank you, your organization Seed Programs Inc. and The Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg County North Carolina for the vegetable seeds, which Peace Corps/Ecuador recently received. The kindness and generosity of providing the seeds and their transportation to Ecuador has been very much appreciated.

Presently we are just beginning the process of administering the program and distributing seeds to Volunteers and their local community schools which are participating in the program. Ana Maria and
I are managing and supervising the program from here in the Peace Corps/Ecuador Quito office.

Participation by Volunteers of all five PC/Ecuador programs and local communities throughout all regions of Ecuador is expected. Last week the initial announcement went out to Volunteers and already within days we have received requests to participate in the program. During the weeks of the 9th and 17th of June Peace Corps/Ecuador will having regional conferences with groups of Volunteers and representatives of their local communities throughout the country and more program announcements and presentations will be made to the groups. By the end of June we hope to have the distribution process in full swing.

As part of the program's administration we are asking the Volunteers to provide us with project up-date reports so as to enable us to inform you of the program's progress. Hopefully we will be able to provide you with a reasonably accurate idea of the impact the seed program is having upon the lives of local folks here in Ecuador. Along with basic project descriptions and information related to local participants, we are asking the Volunteers to provide us with photographs of their projects which we will forward to you as they become available all in the hope that everything will provide you, the staff of your program, and folks at The Rotary Club of North Mecklenberg with an increased awareness of what is happening with the donation of seeds here in Ecuador.

In the weeks ahead we will continue to be in contact with you. Please let us know if there is anything specific that you would like us to do or can do to satisfy the needs of your program. Volunteers and local communities appear to be very enthusiastic and desirous of becoming partners in this seed program and we anticipate a high level of participation. We will keep you up-dated on project development and program progress.

Thank you once again for your generosity, assistance, and support of Peace Corps/Ecuador's endeavors. Both Volunteers and members of the local community are gratefully appreciative of your personal effort and those of Seed Program Inc and The Rotary Club of North Mecklenberg County North Carolina.

Thank you and best wishes from Ecuador.
