Sarah Jayne Phelps of Denison and Alan Joseph Hathcock of Amarillo were married Saturday, Dec. 28, at Waples United Methodist Church in Denison. Reagan Hathcock, father of the groom, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Jeannie Hatt-Phelps and Dr. Charles Phelps of Denison. Grandparents of the bride are George and Jacqueline Hatt and Jacque Phelps, all of whom attended the wedding.
Parents of the groom are Judy and Reagan Hathcock of Amarillo. Grandmother of the groom is Mary Lou Hathcock, who attended the wedding.
Bridal attendants were Laura White of Jacksonville, Ark., Julie Stenger of Arlington and Natalie Stenger of Fort Worth, all cousins of the bride; Sarah Burleson of Coconut Grove, Fla.; Bodil Marthinsen of Norway; Suzanne Laguna of Denison; Amanda Burchfield of Arlington; and Katie Komar of Austin.
Groom's attendants were Darin Hathcock of Cedar Hill and Brent Hathcock of Arlington, both brothers of the groom; Ryan Phelps of Denison and Nick Phelps of Denison, both brothers of the bride; Wesley McGuffey and Johnny Jeffers, both of Amarillo; Casey Clark of Dallas; and John Atkins of Lubbock.
Flower girl was Ivy Brooks of Fort Worth, cousin of the bride. Ring bearer was Joshua Mitchell of Arlington, cousin of the bride. Ushers were Jeff McCarty of Boerne, Jeremy Stenger of Arlington and Clay Phelps of Rockport, all cousins of the bride; and Michael Zennadi of Austin.
Organist was Dr. Robert Beckley of Amarillo. Camille Day Nies of Amarillo played the viola. Soloists were Randall and Kristin Brooks of Fort Worth. Nick Phelps of Denison was a vocalist and played the guitar.
The bride wore an ivory silk gown that featured a Guatemalan woven ribbon that circled the empire waist.
The colors were Guatemalan textiles. The bride chose Leonidas roses for her bouquet.
The wedding reception was at The Point Pavilion in Denison.
The bride is a graduate of Denison High School and graduated in December 2000 with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a Phi Beta Kappa recipient. She is serving in the Peace Corps as a community health educator in Nicaragua.
The groom is a graduate of Tascosa High School and graduated this month from UT-Austin and also was a Phi Beta Kappa recipient. He also is serving in the Peace Corps as a community health educator in Nicaragua.
The couple plan a honeymoon to Cozumel, Mexico. They will reside in Nicaragua while they are in the Peace Corps.
