Monica Patton, National Field Manager and Executive Director of Vote for America Rhode Island
In 2000, Monica helped establish the Democracy Compact in Rhode Island, the first Vote for America program. As Director of Operations she helped increase voting by 5.6% and youth participation by 41%. She became Executive Director of the Rhode Island program in March 2001, and has combined those responsibilities with other organizing efforts since then. For example, this fall Monica organized the “United We Stand Telethon” in Rhode Island, which raised $170,000 to fight the indirect effects from the September attacks in Southeastern New England.
Monica was a Peace Corps volunteer in the small West African country of Burkina Faso. There she assisted a rural health clinic in the management of health care resources and the implementation of disease prevention and health promotion programs. After the Peace Corps, she spent six months traveling through East Africa, Turkey, India and Thailand. Monica graduated from Brown University.
