(Santa Fe-AP) - Santa Fe National Forest deputy supervisor Gilbert Zepeda has been promoted to forest supervisor.
Zepeda has been acting supervisor since Leonard Atencio transferred to the regional office in April.
Zepeda says he looks forward to continuing a great working relationship with forest personnel in serving the people of northern New Mexico.
Zepeda was born and raised in California. He received his bachelor’s degree in forestry from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California in 1979.
Zepeda volunteered two years with the Peace Corps in Chile and the Dominican Republic and served as tropical forestry adviser at the International Institute of Tropical Forestry in Puerto Rico.
He was then hired as a district ranger with the Helena National Forest in Montana. Zepeda became deputy forest supervisor for the Santa Fe National Forest in 2001.
