IYF Announces New Vice President of Business Development
June 2, 2003

Baltimore, Maryland, USA: The International Youth Foundation (IYF) is pleased to announce that Charles F. (Chic) Dambach has joined the global non-profit organization as Vice President of New Business Development. Mr. Dambach comes to IYF after a long career in the non-profit sector and with a strong record of forging multi-sector partnerships to promote human development and positive social change. He will be an integral member of the senior management team.

"Chic Dambach brings a wonderful mix of public and private sector experiences and will be a key leader and creative catalyst in helping IYF continue its expansion into new countries and new program initiatives," said Bill Reese, IYF's Chief Operating Officer. "Developing multi-stakeholder alliances to meet the global challenges of youth development is the cornerstone of IYF's efforts to reach millions of children and young people. Chic will advance our mission all that much further."

Mr. Dambach will focus on developing and implementing strategies to generate revenue through partnerships with global corporations, multilateral development institutions, governments, and private foundations committed to youth development around the world.

Mr. Dambach led the international programs for BoardSource, formerly the National Center for Nonprofit Boards. He has worked with nonprofit organizations around the world on effective policies, structures and practices. He also served as President and CEO of the Museum Trustee Association, which provides information and training for trustees of museums throughout North America.

A Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia from 1967 through 1969, Mr. Dambach later served as President and CEO of the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), the organization of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, former Peace Corps staff, and families and friends of the Peace Corps. During his term from 1992 through 1998, the NPCA budget nearly tripled, and membership grew from under 7,000 to over 17,000.

Chic Dambach developed a special project to assist Rwanda in the aftermath of the genocide in 1994, and he created an Emergency Response Network to link former Peace Corps volunteers with organizations that need them for special projects worldwide. He also built a network of teachers with Peace Corps experience, helping them to bring a global perspective to their classrooms. Mr. Dambach was the founding director of the National Assembly of Local Arts Agencies, and he led the two local arts councils. In addition, he served as Director of Government Liaison for the Epilepsy Foundation of America.

He is chairman of the Coalition for American Leadership Abroad (COLEAD), a public information and advocacy network of 45 international affairs organizations. He is also an advisor to Operation Respect /Don't Laugh at Me, a national youth program created by Peter Yarrow to combat bullying and promote respect in schools and communities. He has served on the Board of Overseers for CARE, and on the governing boards of several other national and international organizations.

During the 1980s, he was Chairman and CEO of the U.S. Canoe and Kayak Team. Under his leadership, the organization built corporate partnerships that produced a ten-fold increase in funding, and team performance improved from 15th to 4th in the Olympic Games -- including two gold medals in the Seoul Olympics.

Mr. Dambach holds an MBA degree from Wake Forest University, and a BA degree from Oklahoma State University. He received the "Global Coalition Peace Award" from the International Platform Association in 2001 for his work on the treaty ending the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea. He and his wife Kay live near Annapolis, Maryland with their two young children Grant and Kai. His older son Alex is a city planner in Newark, NJ.
