Peace Corps Volunteers in collaboration with Regional Training Officers in Kerewan, NBD, has recently concluded a classroom management and alternative discipline workshop for Kerewan Upper Basic School.

Speaking at the occasion, Peace Corps volunteer, Elizabeth Frame, said the programme aims to help in solving classroom problems, most of which results to poor performance of students, highlighting several categories of constraints.

As a result, she said her organisation decided to venture into the programme to provide support for the initiative in terms of funds and logistical supports.

Mr. Modou Lamin Jammeh, a senior Regional Training Officer, said it would go a long way in the dissemination of information and to share knowledge accumulated from the workshop, pointing out that the proper handling of classes, good delivery system and a conducive place for learning are essentials in the dispensation of knowledge.

Delivering an inspiring lectures, Mr. Ebrima Sabally, a regional education trainer, said classroom management and alternative discipline are essential to teachers in the first days of teaching, which he said determine success and failures of teachers.

"We expect such person to do proper organisation of class with adequate supervision and also with appropriate resources required in that period", as class room management consists of practice and procedures.
