Saloum Soumare is retiring! Saloum has been with Peace Corps Mali for 32 years. He was a language professor when Peace Corps was first invited to Mali in 1971 and has been the Training Manager for at least the last 10 years, if not longer. The Bamako office is putting together a ceremony for him before the end of November. They would like to surprise him with a remembrance book at that time. The book will contain stories, memories, quotes, and photographs. Saloum has seen every generation of volunteers so I am sure that there are some wonderful tidbits that are waiting to be seen and heard. Saloum is truly an icon in Peace Corps Mali history. If you have items that you would like to contribute to the book, please contact Cheryl Turner, the current APCD of Health and Water Sanitation in Mali. Her email address is: cturner@ml.peacecorps.gov Thanks for your help! Sabrina Washington, Mahina '98-'00.
