Samoa RPCV Tom Halloran dies in Buffalo

A memorial service for Tom Halloran, formerly of Kenmore, was held in January in Springfield, Va.

Halloran, 51, died of a heart attack Jan. 23, 2002, in his Springfield home.

He was business manager of International Journeys Travel Agency in Washington, D.C., where he had worked for the past 10 years.

Born and raised in Kenmore, Halloran was a graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School and a 1972 graduate of Canisius College, where he was active with the Student Union Board, Little Theater, band and glee club.

Halloran served in the Peace Corps for three years, living in Western Samoa before moving to the Washington area in the early 1980s. He volunteered with Brother Help Thyself, Food and Friends, Lambda Squares and other organizations in the Washington area.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Bob Dye; a brother, Richard of Detroit; and three sisters, Jean Zillox of Toledo, Ohio, and Maureen Romito and Ann Jenkins, both of Las Vegas.
