Jerry Wager spent two years in the Peace Corps in Guyana
Jerry Wager retired last Feb. and has been indulging his passion for traveling around the world. This year he has visited several countries, including Malaysia and Indonesia. These two countries contain also some of the world’s last remaining tropical forests and wild areas. Jerry’s talk will focus on the people, how they and their country differ from our perceptions, and some of the problems associated with changes and pressures occurring within these countries. Jerry did some seining and will talk about some unusual specimens. His talk will also be an exciting travelogue of sights.
Jerry Wager has a BA in geography from the State University of New York and a Masters in community planning from the University of Cincinnati. He spent two years in the Peace Corps, worked as a solid waste management planner for the US EPA, ran water quality, solid waste, pesticide control, other programs in Guam, and was water quality planning head of the Ohio EPA for eight years. His last position was with the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources, where he developed and managed agricultural, urban pollution control, and watershed restoration programs for nearly 19 years. He is currently on the board of directors of the Ohio Environmental Council.
