Carol Gentry is an editorial writer specializing in health, education and social services. She joined the board this year.
She was the director of the Knight Public Health Journalism Fellowships at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta before coming to the Sentinel. Gentry, who has specialized in health journalism for two decades, worked as a reporter and editor for the Tallahassee Democrat, the St. Petersburg Times and The Wall Street Journal before starting the Knight program at CDC in 2000. She also was a Peace Corps volunteer in Colombia from 1979 to 1981. She holds a master's in public administration from Harvard, where she focused on health policy.
