Carrie Carlile says there is comfort to be found in a crooked line, something that draws her in. This may reflect her Peace Corps service in Tonga and travels in Thailand and Mexico. She credits the warmth, color, and passions of these places as forming the foundation for her images in fabric.
She is an art quilter who finds joy in the "utter craziness" and deep peace that working with textiles brings her–the unexpected thrill of color landing on color on her work table.
Carrie went from 4-H beginnings to a BA in Sociology and Home Economics from Linfield College, and an MS in Special Education from Portland State University. Her work has been exhibited locally, in Oregon, and nationally. In addition, she was awarded a coveted two week, full scholarship to a quilt workshop in Ohio.
