The United States Peace Corps will welcome a group of 55 trainees to the eastern Caribbean Friday.
The potential volunteers are due to undergo three weeks of training at the care life centre in Soufriere , to be followed by an additional two weeks on the six island nations where they will be assigned.
The training is generally intended to orient them to conditions in the eastern Caribbean in preparation for their two years of service as volunteers.
American Peace Corps volunteers have been coming to the Caribbean since 1961, providing development support to government agencies, NGOs, health education, information technology and small business development.
Parliamentary representative for Soufriere , Walter François will welcome the new group of Peace Corps trainees at the opening session scheduled for Monday at the care life centre.
