Oklahoma City-AP -- An Oklahoma woman who was killed in Iraq Tuesday had told friends, "If I die, know that I'm doing precisely what I want to be doing."
Thirty-three-year-old Fern Holland was killed Tuesday along with another American and their Iraqi translator. They were shot by gunmen posing as Iraqi police officers who stopped their vehicle at a fake checkpoint outside Baghdad.
Holland was an attorney and was in Iraq to help write the women's rights section of the new Iraqi constitution.
Her family says she was a brilliant woman who loved democracy.
Holland left her job at a Tulsa law firm to join the Peace Corps and that led to her job with the American-led interim government in Iraq.
