I'm an RPCV from Kenya, I'm writing to get some opinions about volunteer opportunities in Ecuador. I have a cousin who is 17 years old and graduating from high school this Spring. She would like to spend her summer as a volunteer English teacher in Ecuador, she's visited Ecuador before on a school trip and would really like to go back. I would like to figure out if there is a way that she'll be able to volunteer this summer safely. Does anyone know of any organizations that run volunteering trips to Ecuador? Also, I am concerned about the safety of a 17 year old young woman in Ecuador. Having lived their yourselves for 2 or more years, what do you think? Would it be safe for a young woman? She would like to go with 2 other of her friends, but they're all the same age and none of them have too much international experience and none in the developing world aside from the class trip to the amazon they made in middle school.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I want to encourage my cousin to explore the world and volunteer, but i don't want her to be unsafe.

If you could email me at jaeldius@yahoo.com, i'd be thankful.
