Philippines RPCV Phyllis Brunkau dies in Germany
Phyllis Brunkau
Phyllis Brunkau, former resident of Ponca City, died Feb. 25, 2004, in Quedlinburg, Germany. She was 67.
She donated her body to the Martin Luther University in Halle, Germany.
Phyllis Brunkau was born May 6, 1936, in Ponca City, the daughter of Fred A. and Alberta Brunkau. She attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., where she majored in music. She joined the Peace Corps in 1961 and served in the Philippines. She worked and taught high school in many places to include Newton and Boston, Mass., Albuquerque, N.M., Aurora, Colo., and New York City. She then moved to Germany to live near her relatives there.
She enjoyed music, especially classical music, and her friends and relatives.
Survivors include a cousin, Eleanor Smith of Ponca City, as well as other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara A. Brunkau.
