Jeff Robinson, of Columbus and formerly of Huntsville, has made a decision that will change his lifestyle dramatically.

The 35-year-old former restaurant manager has accepted a position with the Peace Corps to serve as a small business adviser in Vanuatu, an island in the South Pacific, located north of New Zealand. Joining the Peace Corps, he said, has been something he has considered since he was much younger.

"I went back to school and finished my bachelor's degree at The Ohio State University and decided it was time for a career change," said Mr. Robinson.

Undaunted by the recent series on the Peace Corps published by the Dayton Daily News concerning the safety of Peace Corps volunteers throughout the world, Mr. Robinson said he has been impressed by the work of the agency over the years and is looking forward to his new assignment.

He departs April 14 for the capital city of Port Vila in Vanuatu where he will under go orientation and training along with 15 other Peace Corps volunteers.

"I kind of left it up to them," he said about the choice of assignments by the Peace Corps.

Basically he said his duties will be to work with youth and women in rural areas in establishing retail cooperatives for agricultural products that will eventually provide sustainable income.

A 1986 graduate of Indian Lake High School, he is a son of Gloria Jane Robinson of Bellefontaine.
