atherine Angela Gannon and Thomas Robert Snowden were married yesterday at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Silver Spring, Md. The Rev. Francis G. Kazista performed the ceremony.

Mrs. Snowden, 39, is a recovery-room nurse at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md. She graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. She was also a first lieutenant in the Air Force. She is a daughter of Patricia Gannon Egan of Silver Spring and the late Francis X. Gannon and a stepdaughter of Robert Egan. Her mother retired as a business accounts manager for St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, also in Silver Spring. The bride's father was a speechwriter for the Organization of American States and the author of A Biographical Dictionary of the Left (American Opinion Books, 1969). Her stepfather, who is retired, was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington.

Mr. Snowden, 37, is a video editor in Washington for the "NBC Nightly News With Tom Brokaw." He is also studying for a master's degree in liberal arts at Georgetown. He graduated from St. John's in Jamaica, Queens, and was from 1992 to 1994 a Peace Corps volunteer in Lukow, Poland, where he taught high school English. His parents, the late Mary E. Snowden and the late Francis E. Snowden, lived in Bayside, Queens. His mother was a secretary at St. John's, and his father worked in Jamaica as a revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service.
