Director of an independent US agency Peace Corps Gaddi Vasquez is visiting Azerbaijan from April 30 to May 2 according to US Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Vasquez will tour newly established volunteer sites of the corps across Azerbaijani regions.
Back in October 2003 Azerbaijani government agreed to receive 30 Americans from the corps both to teach English at the secondary Azerbaijani schools and to train Azerbaijani teachers in teaching methods.

Vasquez will now enquire how has US volunteers been working in Azerbaijani cities such as Agdash, Ganja, Ismayilli, Lankaran, Mingachavir, Neftchala, Oguz, Shaki, and in the villages Khirmandali, Vandam and Ocagli.

Another group of 31 volunteers is expected to arrive in Azerbaijan by summer. Vasquez, who will meet Azerbaijani officials during his visit, will discuss the prospects of further partnership.

US president John.F.Kennedy established the Peace Corps in 1961 to make social, economic and public assistance to foreign countries.

Alongside with Azerbaijan the corps has been operating in former Soviet states such as Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Moldova, and Ukraine.
