<Last week we threw a going away party for our friend Tu and hired a well known Mauritanian musical group to perform. Here's the pictures from the party. My favorite instrument is the guy playing the plate with shoes (in the video).

<John-Christophe, Beth, Justin and I spent the Ramadan holiday long weekend with our friend Baham in a bird park called the Banc D'Arguin. We rented some trucks, camped on the beach, fished, and shot some cans. We didn't have a cooler to keep our food fresh, so we took some live sheep and killed them when we were hungry.

<These are pictures from my last trip in Mauritania to Boghe, Kaedi and Aioun. Boghe is where Djeinaba, our exchange student is from. It is a mostly Pulaar community along the Senegal River. Kaedi is where I lived during Training and it is pretty diverse - there are large Moor, Pulaar, and Soninke communities. Aioun is Justin's site. We had a picnic at the rocks and visited our friend John's English class. Marieta Dia is one of my favorite Mauritanians.
