United States' Peace Corps volunteers are urgently needed in the Marshall Islands.
The Marianas Variety reports that Peace Corp volunteers are needed in the Marshalls "to bolster the country's poor public education system by providing ongoing training and supervision to local teachers".
However, it's been reported that the volunteers might not return to the Pacific Island state because of a lack of funding in Washington for the programme.
Although a Peace Corps assessment team that visited the Marshall Islands last year unanimously recommended to Peace Corps' Washington, D.C. headquarters that it revive the programme in the Marshall Islands, Washington officials say U.S Peace Corps has no money in its budget.
Since 2002, officials in the Marshall Islands have lobbied Washington to resume the volunteer programme that was launched in 1967 and closed its doors in 1996 as part of a global reduction in Peace Corps programmes.

My name is Antones Kaious, came here to U.S. 1979 My openion on having the P-Corp in the Marshall Island is very important. Little story--I learned by the way they lived, they thought me how to over come any sisuation when things in life are tough. When I first came here to U.S. My wife and I went without food for almost two week. Even though there were money and I knew there were money in the Island budged to help us students who were in the U.S. Non of these money were given to me or my wife to helped. To make the story short YOU HAVE TO BE RELATED TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE MARSHALL ISLAND IN ORDER TO GET MONEY FOR YOUR EDUCATION OR SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF ONE OF THOSE WHO WORK IN THE ISLAND GOVERNMENT' PERIOD "CLEAR" I'de rather asked Washington to give or put money in the Peace Corp fund or the pudget than give it to the Island. The million dollars given to the Island Legislature is nothing but wasted. I have seen it wasted, I have seen it fell into the hands of those un educated Crook who don't know nothing about invest in dollars. All they know is going around asking for more money so they can spent it on their own.
