Professor Shannon has taught ESL/EFL courses in the United States, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates for the past 14 years. He has also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tunisia and as a University Fellow at The Ohio State University, and he has been awarded the Albert Marckquardt Travel Grant to attend the TESOL Convention. In the past four years, he has given 19 conference presentations worldwide at such conferences as International TESOL and AAAL. He has also published in The Language Teacher as well as in a book edited by Jack Richards, among others. He is currently the Chair of the Program Administration Interest Section of TESOL, Inc., and his research interests include second language acquisition, intensive language program administration, and language assessment.
