CFTC says Gorham has resigned
Washington, DC, Jun. 7 (UPI) -- The Commodity Futures Trading Commission said Monday Michael Gorham, director of the agency's market oversight division, has resigned.
The CFTC said Gorham is leaving the commission to become director of the Center for Financial Markets at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
Gorham was recruited to become the first director of the oversight division, created as part of a 2002 restructuring.
During his tenure, Gorham oversaw the designation of two new exchanges, the processing of eight new exempt markets, and the review of more than 450 new futures and option contracts, the CFTC said.
The resignation is effective June 30.
