Lois Eckroth Kocher, 74, of Berwick, died Saturday at Columbia- Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, after an illness.

A dietician, she worked at the former Millersville State College. She also worked in Elizabeth, N.J., Community Hospital of Scranton and Berwick Hospital Center.

She graduated in 1950 from New York Institute of Dietetics.

Mrs. Kocher was a member of Lightstreet United Methodist Church, Columbia-Montour Bible Federation and Berwick Christian Women.

She was a member of several service organizations, including Central Susquehanna Organ Donation Coalition, American Red Cross Disaster Relief, Fowlersville Homemakers, United Methodist NOMADS and Volunteers in Missions.

She also volunteered with Red Cross Blood Mobile.

Mrs. Kocher and her husband were Peace Corps volunteers in Antigua from 1990 to 1992.

Her social memberships included Joseph Priestly Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Northumberland; chapter president of Berwick AARP, Vintage Red Hatter Chapter; and Millersville Campus Wives.

She enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, cooking, reading, crafts, travel and shopping.

Born in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late George David and Marie Thomas Eckroth.

She was married 50 years on Dec. 26 to Charles L. Kocher.

Surviving are two daughters, Marie, married to Brian Lange of Centreville, Md., and Nancy, married to Mark Krauss of Casper, Wyo.; two sons, Thomas, married to Eileen Kocher of Northumberland, and William, married to Sandra Kocher of Forksville; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Nelson, Raymond and George Eckroth.
