Michelle McGregor

Job: Manager of global real estate, facilities and environmental health and safety, Kennametal Inc.

Age: 41

Ambitions: To be a successful parent and person, as well as leaving the world in a better state than I found it.

First job: Kountz & Rider.

Hardest job/why?: Laboratory analyst for a winery in California. During crush season (September through November) we crushed and did analysis 24/7. We often slept at the winery and had constant wine stains on our clothes and skin.

Biggest work challenge ever: Peace Corps volunteer, Central African Republic, science teacher. Many of the children could not afford books or paper. We often had to improvise. The country and the people were absolutely amazing. I would do it again!

Favorite stock/mutual fund: Stock: KMT and petroleum and raw materials groups. Mutual fund: Vanguard Institutional Index Fund.

Away from work I: Am a mom and an avid outdoors/exercise enthusiast. And I participate in some key global environmental education initiatives. One program connects children from Western Pennsylvania to children on the island of St. Croix in the Caribbean. Each group will conduct an ecological study of a water zone and present their findings to each other via live video conferencing!

Dream vacation: Sailing around Tahiti.

Favorite book: "Jonathan Livington Seagull" by Richard Bach.

If I won the lottery, I'd: Be a full-time mom and continue my participation in environmental education and research projects globally.
