HONIARA, Solomon Islands (PFnet News) - Solomon Islands Ambassador to the United States Collin Beck seeks help from the United States of America.

Beck when presenting his credentials to the US President George Bush in Washington recently has requested the United States to help the Solomons in its recovery process.

Ambassador Beck sought U-S support and assistance from the Millennium Challenge Account to help Solomon Islands in its Economic Recovery and Reform framework.

He also called for the re-engagement of Peace Corps in Solomon Islands now that the security situation has improved.

President Bush in his response said the establishment of the Millennium Challenge Account signifies United States' new approach to development.

He assured the Solomon Islands ambassador that Peace Corps will be re-engaged in Solomon Islands at the appropriate time.
