Bethany Hardin Blackburn of Santa Clara, who served in the Peace Corps in Ivory Coast from 1999 to 2001, was given her dog Yapo by one of her Ivorian friends.
``He has two good tricks that not every dog would know. First, he is trilingual -- in English, French and the language of the village where we lived, Baoulé.''
Yapo's other trick is ``finding Wilbur.'' Blackburn will hide a stuffed pig around the house and then tell the dog to ``go find Wilbur.''
``Within minutes, he's returned with his stuffed toy. We know he reasons because if we try to just hide it behind our backs, without going to hide Wilbur, Yapo will howl and not go searching for it.''
