• Packing???? Wednesday, September 07, 2005 - 4:45 pm [1]

Hi,
I'm an invitee scheduled to depart for Lesotho in October and I need some clarification of the packing list in the Lesotho Welcome Book that came with my invitation packet. "Two sets of non-white sheets"? What Size? I'm thinking that full size would allow for use on either full or twin size mattresses (with some folding and tucking), but I'm on a very tight budget, so if there's not a chance of having a full size bed once I arrive, I'd rather not spend the extra money. What would you suggest?

Twin bed sheets should be fine. Figure on leaving all that kind of stuff there when you leave. People will want it and you want to travel light on the way home

I am a new invitee and I am finding some very horrible dangerous information about Lesotho. I am also not having a good experience w/the Africa Placement phone officers. I am feeling a bit uninformed. Any advise? I was basically told by the Placement officers that I have 10 days to make a decision and that I should be careful what I say or share w/them? Very unusual?

I'm leaving for Lesotho on June 14th, 2006 and looking for others that may have been given the same assignment COS and date. I'm an invitee headed for Lesotho June 11 2007. I'd love to hear from any current/recently returned volunteers about how living conditions differ from what they expected/prepared for based on the "The Peace Corps welcomes you to Lesotho" handbook. I'm leaving for Lesotho in June, 2010. Anyone with information as to whether a laptop would be advisable to purchase before leaving. Or, find out where I'm serving and then asking to have one sent.
